I want to thank all my followers for your support. As many of you know I was able to retire financially independent and debt free. I tell you this not to brag; at my age I have no ego.

My hope is that this message will give those of you who may be struggling to earn a good living, inspiration to never give up on your dreams. Anything is possible if you believe. If I can do it, so can you.

My retirement has given me an opportunity to  speak out and share my experiences  and knowledge, so I can help make your journey  easier than mine. As I look back on my 43 years career as a hairdresser /salon owner, and ten years as an educator it is my hope that this information and my experiences and opinions will help you and your team reach higher levels of educational excellence and prosperity for yourself and your family.

As I travel throughout the U.S. and in Canada I have met thousands of beauty professionals hearing their concerns, I am sure everything that has happened to you has happened to me.

I want to tell you what you need to hear, not what you want to hear, and yes I will probably step on a few toes including my own. If you want glitter and hype or product company input, this message may not be right for you.

Glitter and Hype aside, we are experiencing many challenges and changes within our profession, sadly many have failed to adapt to these challenges. Far too many of our salon owners are facing many obstacles, many more are failing, and yes far too many of our young people starting a career are leaving the profession.

Booth rental owners are at great risk due to misclassifying their workers. Salon suites, are they right for you? Read the dotted lines, new labor laws, a government crackdown on salons who may be violating the labor law rights of your workers?

Staff turnover, lack of quality information, low cost franchises throughout the United States (should we not be raising prices?), rising business costs, rising cost of living, are just some of the challenges we face.

I will be addressing all these and many more topics in Las Vegas July 22-23. Click here My two day seminar is all about helping you over come these  challenges , develop your business management skills and help you grow your business.

Most of our education at many of our trade shows are about retail and selling products,if you examine trade magazines over 90% are advertisements for the product companies. Don’t get me wrong, retail is important, you always learn something at our trade shows; trade shows are important and fun, but I feel we need more educational business and personal development  content at our trade shows. When the lights are turned out and the show is over, reality kicks in.

It would be nice if we have a presentation by a labor law attorney answering our concerns about our new labor laws, perhaps an expert showing us how to promote our salons through social media, a guest speaker on personal development. A marketing expert on how to increase salon traffic.

Many of our beauty schools are being closed by the department of education because of the high drop out rate, with students unable to pay back their student loans.

I have been loyal to my followers offering  free blogs, tips, informative information, offering free consultations when a salon owner needs another opinion,I charge no coaching fees.

I sometimes feel alone fighting the many challenges within our profession. Please hit the share and like button to spread our message.

Apathy and indifference towards education is very prevalent in our profession; many will argue that education is expensive, try ignorance!

There is a great disconnect between hairdressers and salon owners. I often visit chat rooms, sadly I read comments about salon owners being greedy, how dare they make a profit. Where did they get this negative mind set.

Until you own a business, don’t criticize; yes I will admit many salon owners will not invest in helping their workers to succeed.

Many more lack the leadership skills to inspire and motivate their workers to higher levels of excellence. There are no perfect owners nor perfect workers. Are we not on the same team? Where their is no profit we all lose.

The heart and soul of our profession are salon owners, hairdressers and beauty professionals working hard every day.

There success benefits our entire profession including our schools and product companies. We are all in this together.

If you believe you have no chance to succeed, you are probably right.
