“Develop a passion for learning and self improvement. if you do,you will never cease to grow.”

As I travel throughout the United States and Canada conducting my presentations at major hair shows and conducting my business seminars for salon owners, I am always asked the same questions. How can I prevent and overcome staff turnover? How can I compete with booth rental salons? Why can’t we as salon owners not have an equal playing field? How can I find committed hairdressers? Why do many of our beauty schools not improve curriculum to better prepare their students for a competitive job market? How do I make a profit? How do I prevent gossip and salon pettiness? Why are so many salons struggling and going out of business? Why is there so much staff pirating within our profession? The questions go on and on.

While the independent salon owners are trying to find answers to these obstacles, you’re seeing a rapid growth of low cost franchises growing dramatically. The question is why?

Why are these challenges and obstacles so prevalent?

In my opinion, our profession did not and will not adapt to change, because not enough owners are speaking out. Far too many salon owners are in denial and would rather stay in their comfort zone because change requires hard work and effort.

For too long, far too many salon owners have been facing the daily challenges of salon ownership in isolation, spending 10-12 hours daily working behind the chair and sacrificing their personal life and time with their family to keep their business growing and profitable.

The growing need for more education in the areas of personal growth ,honesty and  a code of ethics, client retention, improved people and communication skills, staff retention, business management, marketing and advertising, and much  more led me to form Hairdresser Career Development Systems, to fill this educational void.

These challenges must be addressed if our profession and our salons are to move forward and adapt to the many changes that are occurring within our profession.

In an attempt to address these deep rooted challenge and help salon owners to unite, I am donating my time and money to organize our first Salon Owners Summit Conference on a one week cruise to the Eastern Caribbean.

Salon owners learning and helping one another is our goal.

Hairdressers and salon owners are the heart and soul of our profession. Their success will benefit our profession. As salon owners we must  address the above challenges together. Join our new grass roots movement. Click here
