“Adversity and perseverance can shape you. They can give you a value and self-esteem that is priceless.” Scott Hamilton

The daily pressures of owning your own business, balancing your personal life, and raising your standard of living can be daunting especially in today’s tough economy.

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed?

Do you find it difficult to find and keep good help? Have you defined your purpose in life? Do you manage your business, instead of your business managing you?

Are salon profits rising?

Do you manage your team, or do they manage you?

These are just some of the questions many salon owners face daily in trying to grow their business.

Owners must wear many hats in trying to deal with adversity and the challenges of owning your own business.

The following tips will help you meet adversity head on with confidence. It is my wish that these few tips will help you regain your passion and determination with confidence.

Fierce Competitor — learn to compete to be the best. Competition is good,  peaks and valleys are part of the growing process, take adversity as an opportunity to be the best. Be a fierce competitor, by seeking out on going education, especially in the area of developing powerful business management skills.

You’re Not Alone — help is available. I formed Hairdresser Career Development Systems free of any special interest groups to upgrade quality education and help you meet adversity. As a fellow salon owner/hairdresser and educator and business consultant, with over 43 years of real world experiences I certainly understand your educational and business needs.

Determination — when the going gets tough, the tough get going. You only fail when you fail to get up. Courage isn’t having the strength to go on –it’s going on when you don’t have the strength.

Take a Break — sometimes you just have to step away from your business and refocus. Our Salon Owners Conference Cruise to the Caribbean Feb.3-9 would be a great way to recharge your batteries. I also will be available throughout the cruise to answer your questions. For complete details. Click here

Define Your Challenges — before you can solve your problems, you need to identify your problem, prioritize, and find solutions.

Education — seek out knowledge and ongoing education, be specific, example if you need more customers take classes on marketing. Social media offers fantastic opportunities to grow your business.

Don’t Worry — live the moment, enjoy life and count your blessings, other people probably have more problems than you. Be thankful for good health, family, and the ability to be anything you want.

You have two choies, worry and do nothing and hope everything will get better, or do something about it and take action. You control your own destiny. For ongoing support  join my business fan page. Click here
