4 Keys to Employee Training and Development

The foundation to employee training and development begins with you, the owner.  Organize and structure your establishment and your employees so you can manage your business, instead of your business managing you:

  1. Hire the right people –Make sure your new team member shares your vision and goals and are compatible with your other staff members. Set high standards of excellence when adding a new member to your team. More info for staff development is available in my book Creating Your Salon
  2. Define Your Expectations –How can you expect your staff to perform if they do not know what is expected and how those expectations will be measured? Make sure they clearly understand your expectations.
  3. Develop an Employee Training Program — Invest in your greatest profit potential by educating your staff. Teach them how to perform to your high expectations.
  4. Create an Employee Handbook —An employee handbook should be the foundation to employee training and continuing education. Rules, regulations and job descriptions are just some of the guidelines you should clearly define.

Know as a Salon Owner, you are not alone.  Choosing an educational system to assist you in the training and development of your staff, gives you the tools necessary to grow your business and achieve the levels of excellence you are striving to accomplish.
